Which Shibuya Kart Tour?

A Shibuya kart tour is a 1-hour tour in a small street kart on Tokyo’s public roads, following a guide through the Scramble Crossing. Plenty of tours carry Shibuya in the name; fewer start there. The one to book first starts from Street Kart Shibuya, the shop at 15-3 Maruyama-cho: Tokyo: Street Kart Experience in Shibuya, from US$104 a person (checked November 2026), 1 hour, up to 6 drivers. Every driver brings a passport and a 1949 Geneva Convention driving permit in booklet form, or a JAF translation for licences from six countries.

Where Street Kart Shibuya is, what the 1-hour tour gives you, which shops really start in Shibuya, and what to sort out before you book.

Where Street Kart Shibuya is

Street Kart Shibuya and its Annex in Maruyama-cho, and the 0.7 km walk (routed) to the Scramble Crossing.

Street Kart Shibuya is on the ground floor of 15-3 Maruyama-cho, in the side streets above Dogenzaka. For a taxi, the address is 東京都渋谷区円山町15-3. The nearest station is Shinsen, on the Keio Inokashira Line, 140 m away on foot by the shortest route. From the shop to the Scramble Crossing is 0.7 km on foot.

Street Kart has a second shop in the same street grid, the Shibuya Annex at 10-11 Maruyama-cho (THE CITY SHIBUYA, 2nd floor), 130 m on foot from the first: the same course, with more departure times. On GetYourGuide it is a separate listing, Shibuya: Tokyo Street Go-Kart Tour by Shibuya Annex, from US$91 a person, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before.

What the hour is

You drive behind the guide on public roads. The Shibuya course goes through the Scramble Crossing several times from different directions, then out to Harajuku and Omotesando and back to the shop. The tour is listed at 1 hour; the route itself takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes, depending on traffic. The group is limited to 6 participants.

Included: the kart, gasoline, an English-speaking guide, a costume, goggles, a raincoat on rainy days, and the photos the guide takes on the way. An action camera, a memory card and a camera mount cost extra, and tips are not included. Not allowed: phones, slippers, high heels, alcohol and drugs.

Check dates from Street Kart Shibuya

It is a drive in traffic, not a race. One reviewer in September 2026 wrote that the guide took photos whenever the group stopped at the lights; another hoped to drive faster, but the traffic did not allow it.

The documents decide whether you drive

Every kart tour on this site asks for the same thing in slightly different words: the right papers, in the original, on the day. For the Street Kart Experience in Shibuya that means a passport and an International Driving Permit in booklet form under the 1949 Geneva Convention, issued by the country that issued your licence. Licences from Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco and Taiwan take a Japanese translation from JAF, the Japan Automobile Federation, instead; JAF accepts translation applications only from inside Japan.

Street Kart’s own pages are blunt about it: no licence, no drive, and no refund without the original documents. They also accept a SOFA licence for members of the US forces in Japan. What happens at the shop goes through the check-in, the documents and the insurance.

Which “Shibuya” tours start in Shibuya

Monkey Adventure Kart's Shibuya Crossing tour also starts in Shibuya, from its shop at 1-27-7 Higashi, south-east of the station. Three other tours with Shibuya in the title do not:

None of that makes them worse tours. It changes where you go to start, and how much of the drive is outside Shibuya.

Day or evening

On 10 December 2026 the calendar for the Street Kart Experience in Shibuya showed starts from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On 27 November only the 10:00 AM start was on sale, and on 20 January and 17 February 2027 a 10:00 AM start was. Several recent reviewers booked an evening start for the lights of Shibuya at night; one in July 2026 went by day because it was cheaper, and found the day just as good with a small group. Booked at the shop, the course is priced in yen by slot: review prices from JPY 9,000 to 18,000 a person against a regular JPY 20,000 (checked November 2026). The price guide lines up the dollar figures by date.

What drivers say

The 350 most recent reviews of the Street Kart Experience in Shibuya, read on 7 November 2026 and going back to 23 April, average 4.87; 10 of the 350 give three stars or fewer. Reviewers often name their guide, for clear instructions, for leading the group safely and for the photos. The complaints among the low reviews that have text are about a refund refused after an illness, a passport mixed up with another guest’s at the shop, an owner who was short with a group, and the price. Is a Shibuya kart tour worth it? sets this listing beside the cheaper one from Shinjuku.

Before you book

  • Cancelling. The Street Kart Experience in Shibuya can be cancelled free up to 7 days before; the other GetYourGuide tours on this page allow 24 hours. One reviewer in October 2026 asked for a refund for a partner who fell ill before the tour and was refused.
  • Who it is not for. Children under 18, pregnant women, people with back problems or mobility impairments, wheelchair users and hearing-impaired people.
  • Price per person. Two people paid twice the one-person price on the two dates we read for two (10 December 2026 and 20 January 2027).
  • Rain. A raincoat is included on rainy days. One reviewer in November 2026 was offered a refund, a new date or the tour in the rain, and went ahead.
  • Everyone drives. All participants need the driving documents. Groups and couples covers booking together and the group limits.
